He is now watching the U16 European Championship in Skopje where the Serbian national team lost to Israel in the Round of 16 and is now battling for 13th-16th places.
"If we talk about senior basketball, we are witnessing that our national team has never been stronger," Krstic said to Mozzart Sport. "There is MVP of the EuroLeague, MVP of the NBA, a top Euroleague player, and players who play important roles in the NBA teams."
"There are also other teams from the region such as Slovenia, for example. They have good chemistry. Greece is strong with Giannis," the vice president commented. "There was a period of stagnation here [in Serbia] but basketball is rising again and this EuroBasket will be extremely interesting, perhaps the strongest and most competitive in recent years."
Krstic is the godfather of Milos Teodosic who was famously cut from the Serbian national team by the head coach Svetislav Pesic. However, he is not eager to critique the decision.
"It's simply the head coach's decision. I wouldn't interfere with godfatherism or anything else," Krstic explained. "The coach had a press conference and explained the reasons, so I wouldn't make many comments on that topic."
Commenting about the upcoming EuroLeague season, Krstic shares his regret that CSKA Moscow will not be competing next year.
"Honestly, I am very glad that Serbia has two representatives. Our basketball deserved it," he said. "I'm really looking forward to the new season, regardless of the fact that my CSKA is not here, unfortunately. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to every game that comes."
