In his first statements on the Greek soil, in an interview with paobc.gr, the American forward emphasized that he's excited.

"I feel great, I'm excited! Panathinaikos is a historic club, with a historic fan base. Its history speaks for itself," stated Williams.

"This team must win! That's why I'm here. I want to help the team get into the playoffs and do some damage," Williams continued.

"I'm here to give energy, try, be efficient, help my younger teammates, and try to get as many wins as we can," the American added.

The 31-year-old forward also talked about his new teammates and the importance of being able to cover multiple positions as a player.

"I think we have a lot of good players in our team, who can compete in more than one position and I think that's the direction basketball is moving these days," said Williams.

"Athletes must be able to cover 2 or 3 positions and mark 2 or 3 positions. That's why I'm here too," Williams explained.

"I've played with some of the lads before, I've also worked with the coach in my first season at Bayern [Munich], so I'm happy, we both feel like we've left something behind," Williams concluded.
