Gonzaga's standout must pass additional examinations, and it is only after that that the treatment and the duration of his unavailability will become known.
Holmgren was one of the players who participated in Jamal Crawford’s pro-am, The CrawsOver, this past weekend. The star-studded game had to be called early due to condensation on the floor. But before that happened, Holmgren left the game with an apparent right foot injury after challenging a shot by LeBron James.
After Holmgren forced a miss on a LeBron's fast break drive, he landed awkwardly and came down limping. Holmgren would exit the game and not return as the game was shortly afterwards called off due to unsafe court conditions.
It is unclear if this is when he suffered the torn ligaments in his foot or if this is an unrelated incident.
The Thunder will kick off their 2022-23 regular season on the road against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 19, which gives Holmgren roughly two months to get ready to return. But if his ligament is torn, he is set to miss at least half of the 2022-23 season.
