After comfortably defeating Montenegro in the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers today, the Lithuanian national team's 12-men roster for EuroBasket 2022 has been announced.

Rytas Vilnius' forward Gytis Masiulis became the last player to be cut from the team, head coach Kazys Maksvytis announced in the post-game press conference.

"After considering for a long time, we decided to take these players who played more consistently and deserved a spot in the final roster more," Maksvytis said on his decision to cut Masiulis.

"Mindaugas Kuzminskas joined the squad very well after injury. Martynas Echodas proved that he can play hard. I think that Eigirdas [Zukauskas] also looked a little better throughout the whole preparation period. All 13 players deserve to be with the national team but we had to choose someone," the Lithuanian national team's head coach added.

Masiulis was not registered for the match against Montenegro. In the previous World Cup Qualifiers match against Hungary, the 24-year-old forward played only three minutes missing his only shot. His most successful match was a friendly duel against Finland on August 11th where Masiulis scored 8 points and grabbed 3 rebounds for 10 PIR.

Lithuania is placed in Group B of EuroBasket 2022 with Slovenia, France, Germany, Hungary, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first match of the tournament comes against the reigning European champions Slovenia.
