Former EuroLeague and NBA player Pablo Prigioni, who currently works as an assistant with the Minnesota Timberwolves, is named as the new head coach of the Argentinian national team.

Prigioni, who won Olympic Bronze in 2008 with Argentina, after getting his new position stated that he's committed to the new group.
"My feeling for the National Team is big, as is my commitment to this group. The Argentina shirt is the most important thing. We are focused, staff and players, on giving our best in the tournament that lies ahead," said Prigioni.
Prigioni had a great club and national team career as a player. He has played for some of the strongest clubs in Europe such as Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz (2003-09, 2011-12, 2016-17) as well as Real Madrid (2009-11).
The 1.93-meters tall guard had also a 4-year NBA career as a player with New York Knicks (2012-15), Houston Rockets (2015), and Los Angeles Clippers (2015-16).
The 45-year-old coach will have the AmeriCup as his first commitment, which will begin on September 2 in Recife, Brazil, and conclude on September 11.
Prigioni at the AmeriCup will have Gonzalo Garcia, Leonardo Gutierrez and Guido Fabbris as his assistants.
Prigioni started his coaching career in 2017 as a head coach of Baskonia. In 2018 he went to work as an assistant with the Brooklyn Nets and in 2019 he joined the Minnesota Timberwolves coaching staff where he still works and will continue to into the next season.
