Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 41 points against Ukraine.
Nikola Jokic had 29 against Israel.
Luka Doncic put up a 36-point show with ten rebounds and four assists to boost Slovenia to a victory over Germany 88-80.
No other Slovenian player has ever scored more points in EuroBasket history. The previous record was held by Goran Dragic, who scored 35 points in the EuroBasket 2017 final.
Asked by BasketNews which one of them is in the best position to reach the EuroBasket 2022 single-game point record, Luka was clear.
"Giannis," Doncic responded.
"Why? Because he's Giannis Antetokounmpo," Doncic smiled.
Jokic and Giannis are coming from teams that the Dallas Mavericks guard follows the most during his free time in the EuroBasket.
"I watch a lot of games. But I think I mostly watch Serbia and Greece," Doncic said to BasketNews.
Asked what the main motivation behind such a performance was, Luka praised his teammates.
"My teammates. They pushed me up," Luka said.
"I hadn't had a good game since I've been there. My teammates helped a lot. It was a really good game. The whole team played amazingly. This is how we should play," Doncic concluded.
Doncic joined an elite club. He has become only the third player to combine 35+ points and 10+ rebounds in the EuroBasket game in the 21st century after Dirk Nowitzki and Pau Gasol.
Slovenians were happy with their reaction after the loss vs. Germany in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.
"The first game we played there, they were really better. They killed us on the rebounds. Today we fought really well. The whole team was ready. We were fighting, and I'm proud of this team," coach Aleksander Sekulic said.
