Talking about the performance, Rudy Gobert congratulated his opponent but wanted to talk more about France's performance.
"I thought we played with the right mentality. I liked the way we fought. Especially after the second quarter, we picked up our intensity, I felt like the spirit was great, I felt like we did a good job moving the ball," Gobert said.
"When we move the ball, we can have plays like that," he talked about his posterizing dunk on Doncic. "Tough game, Luka had a great night. Despite all that, it comes down to a few plays down the stretch, it could have gone either way. Some of it was in our control, and some of it wasn't. We have to focus on what's in our control and get ready for the game against Turkey."
Rudy Gobert has been playing multiple years in the NBA where he gets to witness Doncic's play more often. Asked whether he's tired of seeing him perform on such a level, the center was clear.
"I love it, I hope to see him again," he told.
Defending Doncic is a task all teams in the tournaments have to prepare for. Is it possible to stop him from going off? Gobert provided a nuanced answer.
"It's much more complicated than that," the center explained. "It's a team game. Luka is obviously a fantastic player, he's able to manipulate the game like very few people in the history of the game can."
"Tonight he had a big night. There's always talk about what we should do, what could have been done. Some of the shots he made were really tough, you have to tip your hat off," Gobert said. "Anyway, it's a tie game with two minutes left."
Luka Doncic ended the game with a stat line of 47 points on 15-for-23 shooting, making 6 three-pointers out of 11 and 11 free throws out of 12. He also grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 5 assists for a whopping 47 PIR.
