Germany had a 24-point lead after the first half, but Montenegro did not give up and mounted a comeback in the second half. In the end, it was not enough, as the Germans held off against Montenegro's incredible comeback.

Maodo Lo sank both free throws with 24 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give the Germans a 5-point lead (82-77), right after that Dennis Shroder drew an offensive foul on Igor Drobnjak, which resulted in Montenegro's head coach's strong reaction and a technical foul, which killed Montenegro's chances to win the game entirely.

With 26 seconds left in the game, Vladimir Mihailovic converted on a layup after Marko Simonovic's steal to reduce Montenegro's deficit to just 3 points (80-77).

With 52 seconds left in the game, Bojan Dubljevic drew a foul and converted on both free throws to reduce Germany's lead to 5 points (80-75).

Montenegro began the fourth quarter with a 14-2 run led by Kendrick Perry to reduce the deficit to just 5 points (69-64). Perry scored 11 points in this run by himself, the only other 3 points were scored by Marko Simonovic after Perry assisted him.

Montenegro had a wake-up call after the first sloppy half in which they scored only 24 points. In the third quarter alone they topped it by scoring 26 and winning the quarter by 7 to cut the Germans' lead to 17.

Dennis Schroder led the hosts Germany with 22 points (5/9 2PT, 2/7 3PT, 6/7 FT), 8 assists, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal for 20 EFF.

Montenegro was led by Kendrick Perry, who finished the game with 25 points (3/3 2PT, 5/10 3PT, 4/5 FT), 6 assists, 2 steals, and 1 rebound for 27 EFF.
