The new deal could potentially net the 2022 NBA Finals MVP over 1$ billion dollars.
The current deal Curry has with Under Armour ends in 2024. The new deal includes Curry receiving his own subsidiary brand, just like Nike's deal with Michael Jordan.
The now 4-time NBA champion began his career with a Nike endorsement but left for Under Armour in 2013. At first, Curry was getting close to $4 million per year from Under Armour. That figure has increased to around $20 million annually after signing a contract extension with the brand in 2015.
In 2018 Curry threatened to leave Under Armour for one of its competitors but eventually, the brand's founder Kevin Plank and Curry were able to come to a resolution.
Curry recalled the situation that happened four years ago.
"There wasn't quite an understanding of what it took to run a business like that properly. So, yeah, I got mad," said Curry.
But things have changed a lot since then and now Curry is in control.
"I don't have to raise my voice to get mad. That's the best part about it," Curry told Rolling Stone of the negotiation.
Curry's potential $1 billion lifetime contract with Under Armour would put him in a similar range to LeBron James and Michael Jordan's deals with Nike.
