According to Mitrovic's lawyer Xavier Le Cerf, the club was ordered to pay €481,464 to the specialist by the French court due to unfair dismissal.
The contract between the sides was terminated on May 19th, 2020 due to 'serious misconduct'. The document back then cited the number of technical fouls and ejections by the coach as one of the reasons for his dismissal.
His assistant TJ Parker succeeded Mitrovic, while his other assistant Frederic Fauthoux was also relieved of his duties.
Mitrovic then went on to coach AS Monaco and guided the roster to a EuroCup title the following season. He was replaced by Sasa Obradovic in December 2021, who got the team into the EuroLeague playoffs where the squad lost 2-3 to Olympiacos Piraeus.
ASVEL now has one month to appeal the decision at the first instance.
