EuroBasket 2022 was another tournament where Fernandez showed his true leadership off and on the court.
He remembered his best days in the tough quarterfinal game against Finland where Real Madrid veteran had 11 points (1/2 2PT, 3/5 3PT), 5 steals, and 15 EFF.
In the final, the 37-year-old Fernandez scored 7 points and collected 6 EFF. Those numbers were even below his tournament's averages: 7.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 8.9 EFF.
"If I had no words in the Round of 16, imagine now that we are champions," Fernandez commented after another victorious final. "I am very proud of this group. This medal is very special, perhaps the most special because we worked a lot.
In addition, I am missing my great life pillar, my father. I can only feel pride for this group of people, who have worked hard with great humility. And we have always had Sergio Llull in mind," Fernandez told the Spanish media.
