According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, Edwards has been fined $40,000 "for using offensive and derogatory language on social media".

On September 11th, the player posted a now-deleted Instagram story where he calls a group of men standing outside queer, adding a curse word and a racial slur.

Edwards later released an apology on Twitter, expressing regret for the video.

"What I said was immature, hurtful, and disrespectful, and I'm incredibly sorry. It's unacceptable for me or anyone to use that language in such a hurtful way, there's no excuse for it, at all. I was raised better than that," the player wrote.
