Panathinaikos are interested in signing Mateusz Ponitka, SDNA.gr report. According to TVP Sport, the buyout in the current contract is only €25,000.

After leading the Polish national team to a Top-4 finish in EuroBasket 2022, Mateusz Ponitka has been on the radar of several EuroLeague teams.

The forward recorded just the fourth triple-double in EuroBasket history in the quarterfinal match against Slovenia, scoring 26 points, grabbing 16 rebounds, and dishing out 10 assists.

According to SDNA.gr journalist Georgios Zakkas, Panathinaikos OPAP Athens are interested in bringing the player back to EuroLeague.

Ponitka is currently signed with UnaHotels Reggio Emilia to a three-month deal. The Italian team is set to compete in the Basketball Champions League next season. According to TVP Sport, the buyout clause in the contract is only €25,000.

Throughout EuroBasket 2022, Ponitka averaged 13.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists for Poland. He played for Zenit St Petersburg last season.
