After suffering a season-ending injury in January, Chicago Bulls guard Lonzo Ball is still experiencing discomfort and will go through an additional procedure in hopes of fixing the issue.

The team announced that Ball will undergo an arthroscopic debridement of his left knee and will be re-evaluated in four to six weeks. The surgery is scheduled to take place next Wednesday.

A debridement is a procedure intended to remove damaged tissue or foreign objects from a wound.

The guard missed the entire season after tearing his meniscus in January. Ball experienced several setbacks in his rehabilitation process during the early stages, the setbacks continued to happen into the summer as well as he tried to come back to the basketball court.

Ball is expected to miss the beginning of the 2022-23 NBA season. With the player's re-evaluation scheduled in late October, Lonzo's comeback to the grandest stage of basketball is currently uncertain.

In his first season in Chicago after signing a four-year, $80 million contract, Ball averaged 13.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 42% from 3 in 35 games.

Bulls will now have to rely on Ayo Dosunmu, Alex Caruso, and newly-signed Goran Dragic in the backcourt until Ball returns. The team's training camp is scheduled to start on September 27h, while the first game of the NBA season is an away game on October 19th against the Miami Heat.
