The athlete, of course, is interpreted by Juancho Hernangomez.
"I have never expected to be in a movie. I never dreamt be an actor," Juancho stated at a media day presser. "So, when the pandemic hit, I was at my brother's place in Charlotte, when he was still playing there. With our sister, were so bored. I guess everybody of us felt the same: being at home, doing nothing.
They asked me for like three months before to do the castings and videos. And I just did it because my sister wanted to do videos and to do something as a family. They started liking it, and I kept going through the casting process.
I got an interview with the director, acting teacher, and finally with Adam [Sandler]. They saw something in me, maybe talent or whatever it might be. Two years after, we did a movie," the 26-year-old continued.
"It was fun. But it was tiring, I mean, we were shooting for two years, for two summers. There were days of like 12 to 14 hours of shooting but it was fun. I met a lot of great people, so it was a great experience that's going to last forever," the new Toronto Raptors player concluded the topic.
Juancho is coming off a superb FIBA EuroBasket 2022, where Spain reclaimed the European crown.
He was the MVP of the final, draining 7 three-pointers out of 9 en route to 27 points.
Adam Sander himself was quick to notice the success of his friend and took to Twitter to congratulate him.
"Bo Cruz! Getting it done. Love you Juancho. And Willie! Congrats to the whole Spanish team," Sandler wrote on his social media account.
