2023 WNBA Draft was most-viewed WNBA Draft since 2004
Yesterday's broadcast of the 2023 WNBA Draft became themost-watched women's draft in decades.
The 2023 WNBA Draft averaged 572,000 viewers on ESPN, which wasa 42% increase over last year.
It's the second most-viewed WNBA Draft of all-time, trailingonly the 2004 WNBA Draft (which saw Diana Taurasi go No. 1 overallto the Phoenix Mercury). The first five selections in the 2004 WNBADraft all went on to become All-Stars: Taurasi, Alana Beard, NicolePowell, Lindsay Whalen and Shameka Christon.
This continues an incredible run for women's basketball, asLSU's recent victory over Iowa in the women's national championshipgame became the most-viewed NCAA women’s basketball game on record– with 9.9 million average viewers and a peak viewership of 12.6million.
