Virtus Segafredo Bologna defeated EA7 Emporio Armani Milan 72-64 (8-12, 14-14, 14-12, 23-21, 13-5) in overtime after a crazy ending at the end of the fourth quarter.

Both teams struggled to score the ball mightily throughout the entirety of the match. Olimpia Milan scored their first points after 5 minutes in the first quarter and had just 4 after 7 minutes of play.

The struggles continued both into the second and third quarters as both teams committed many unforced turnovers, while it seemed like the majority of points in the match were scored by shooting free throws.

The fourth quarter was the best game quality-wise as both teams finally found some rhythm. With Virtus leading by three and just under a minute left in the match, Milan's head coach Ettore Messina was charged with a technical foul which sent Gabriel Lundberg to the line to increase the difference to 4 (55-51).

However, Virtus did not manage to inbound the ball and gave their opponents a chance to narrow their deficit. Devon Hall scored an easy layup just seconds later and the teams were separated by just two (55-53).

Lundberg made one of two free throws to put Virtus up by three (59-56). Milan had a chance, and Jordan Mickey committed a foul against Billy Baron. In a very questionable call, Baron was awarded three free throws.

Subsequently, Sergio Scariolo was given a technical foul protesting a call, meaning that Baron would shoot four three throws with a possibility to take the lead. However, Baron missed one of the four shots, and the teams had to go to overtime.

Despite coming up short in regular time, Virtus dominated in overtime and finally captured a ticket to the SuperCoppa final.

Virtus played without Daniel Hackett, Tornike Shengelia, Milos Teodosic, and Mouhammadou Jaiteh, while Olimpia had to battle without Kevin Pangos, Luigi Datome, Johannes Voigtmann, and Shavon Shields.

Virtus will battle against Banco di Sardegna Sassari in the final.

Semi Ojeleye led Virtus with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Jordan Mickey added 13 points and 7 rebounds.

Devon Hall was the top scorer on Milan's team with 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Billy Baron added 12, scoring half his points on free throws.

Milan: Devon Hall 19 (4/7 3PT), Billy Baron 12 (2/9 3PT, 6/8 FT), Kyle Hines 10.

Virtus: Semi Ojeleye 17 (5/11 2PT, 9 REB), Jordan Mickey 13 (5/9 2PT, 7 REB), Isaia Cordinier 12, Ismael Bako 10.
