Since arriving at Real Madrid in the middle of September, Dzanan Musa has already won his first trophy in the Spanish capital, topping FC Barcelona in the Spanish Supercup final.

Ahead of landing in the Royal club, Musa decided to take a risky step and transfer to the seemingly lower-level Rio Breogan from EuroLeague powerhouse Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

Coach Ergin Ataman didn't show much confidence in the reigning ACB League MVP at that time. Musa appeared in just four EuroLeague games in 2020-21 and didn't score.

"Signing in Breogan was a risky decision but it ended very well," the player confessed, via esRadio. "My agent Misko Raznatovic previously advised me, 'Go to a small club like Breogan, show who you are, and then the big offer will come. And that's exactly what happened. Now, I'm more mature. All I have in mind is Real and to win titles."

Musa also talked about his connection with the Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic, with whom he met in FIBA EuroBasket 2022 group stage. Then, Bosnia and Herzegovina surprised the European basketball community by defeating the defending champions.

Doncic struggled with 16 points, 5 turnovers, and 0 triples in 8 attempts, while Musa shone on the other side, finishing the match with an all-around performance and 22 points.

"Luka is like my brother. We are very good friends and keep in touch," Musa said of Doncic. "Before the [EuroBasket] game, we talked a lot about Real Madrid. Not only about the team, but restaurants in the city and other things that I can do there. Though, I don't want to mention them (laughs).

"Our friendship began many years ago. He is one of the best players in the world and I wish him all the best for the future," the 23-year-old Bosnian told the Spanish radio.

Before leaving for NBA, Doncic played in Real Madrid where he became EuroLeague champion and league's MVP.
