Miroslav Raduljica, who signed with the Red Star yesterday, is going to be the last domestic player. Raduljica previously played in Partizan in the 2011-12 season.
Such a rule has been implemented in football for years.
Until this day, basketball was exempt from this practice, so for example, Rasko Katic, Ivan Radenovic, Milan Gurovic, and Vlade Divac had great success with the red-and-white team after spending years in its archrivals' camp.
Foreigners Tarence Kinsey, Corey Walden, and James Gist also wore Zvezda jerseys following their career years in Partizan. But, as the fans claim, they are a completely different story.
"It's a well-known rule in football that players, who played for the senior team of Partizan, are not welcome in our club. This rule was introduced many years ago.
For other sports, including basketball, we had more understanding, because such situations were frequent and the pool of athletes was much smaller.
We had a conversation with the club's management and agreed that we would not cause a problem with the arrival of Raduljica, but we asked that the rule from football become a rule for basketball as well," Zvezda fans' announcement states.
As Mozzart Sport further reports, the rule was not only requested but it was also accepted by the club.
"An agreement was reached. In the future, players who played for the senior team of Partizan will not be brought to our club. This applies to domestic players who can understand our rivalry. And for potential foreigners, we will go on a case-by-case basis," the organized fans pointed out.
