FC Barcelona will start their season in the Spanish Liga Endesa today with a match against Gran Canaria, hoping to offset the loss to Real Madrid in the SuperCup earlier this month.

Looking forward to the matchup, Barca's young guard Rokas Jokubaitis was excited to begin his second year on the sunny South coast of Spain.

"It's interesting. We're starting the ACB championship, so I'm excited," the Lithuanian told after the last practice. "We have a new team, a lot of great players, so I'm looking forward to it. This season has to be ours."

Barcelona welcome the 2022-23 season with big hopes to finally capture the EuroLeague trophy while also winning the two major titles locally - Liga Endesa and Copa del Rey.

The club has signed six new players - Tomas Satoransky, Jan Vesely, Nikola Kalinic, Mike Tobey, Oriol Pauli, and Oscar da Silva - to completely revamp the roster led by head coach Sarunas Jasikevicius.

Jokubaitis is sure, however, that all additions will compliment the team well.

"Perfect," the point guard told when asked about team chemistry at the moment. "A lot of experienced guys, they know basketball, they know how to communicate, they're friendly. Our GMs and our coaches made good decisions by bringing them here to Barca, I'm happy with them and we'll see how it goes."

The ACB match against Gran Canaria is scheduled at 21:30 CET today. The EuroLeague journey will start next week with a clash against Olympiacos Piraeus at home on Friday at 20:30 CET.
