Cassius Winston hit a clutch three-pointer to pull away from ratiopharm Ulm with under three minutes to go en route to a contested win in the BBL.

FC Bayern dominated in the third quarter and fought off several comeback attempts to defeat ratiopharm Ulm 87-80 (24-18, 15-21, 28-15, 20-25) in the German BBL.

After finishing the first half with the game tied at 39, Bayern upped their effort in the third quarter. The German powerhouse started the second half with a dominant 15-3 run to gain a 12-point lead (54-42).

Bayern went into the fourth quarter leading by 13 (67-54). The point difference between the teams remained similar throughout the last 10 minutes but then Ulm tried to mound a comeback one last time.

Juan Nunez hit a tough contested layup to narrow the deficit to just five (78-73). However, Cassius Winston hit a triple, Bayern coupled several successful defensive possessions with clutch shots in the end, and the EuroLeague team ended the match with a victory.

Cassius Winston led Bayern with 25 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists on 8-for-10 shooting, Nick Weiler-Babb added 18 points and 7 rebounds, while Freddie Gillespie contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

Former Real Madrid young prospect Juan Nunez was the top scorer for Ulm with 13 points in his account.

Bayern will now start getting ready for their EuroLeague debut at home against Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul on October 6th. The match is scheduled to start at 20:30 CET.
