Jaleen Smith scored 22 points to lead ALBA Berlin (2-0) in a back-and-forth match against Brose Bamberg (0-1) 90-80 (24-20, 18-20, 20-20, 28-20).

ALBA immediately got off to a better start. Christ Koumadje converted an and-one dunk to give the guests an early 10-3 lead after just over 3 minutes of play. Maodo Lo's triple increased the difference between the teams to nine at the end of the quarter (24-15) to put Bamberg into a trailing position early on.

However, the home team did not back down and tied the game in the second quarter (31-31). The teams battled back and forth and had to go into the second half separated by just two (42-40).

The second half followed a similar trend of ALBA gaining a slight lead and Bamberg battling back to tie the game. With just under 8 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, ALBA led by only a single point (66-65). However, a 17-5 spurt from the EuroLeague team followed immediately thereafter, which ensured a tough victory.

Jaleen Smith was the top scorer of the match with 22 points on 7-for-12 shooting. He also made all four of his free throws for a game-leading 23 PIR. Johannes Thiemann added 13 points and 5 rebounds, while Luke Sikma demonstrated his usual all-around performance with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Vaidas Kariniauskas led Brose Bamberg in scoring with 15 points in his account on 6-for-11 shooting.

Brose: Vaidas Kariniauskas 15 (6/10 2PT), Jaromir Bohacik 12 (2/7 3PT), Solomon Young 12, Spencer Reeves 10 (2/6 3PT).

ALBA: Jaleen Smith 22 (4/8 3PT, 4/4 FT), Johannes Thiemann 13, Maodo Lo 12 (2/7 3PT), Luke Sikma 11 (5/10 2PT, 7 REB, 6 AST).
