The Adelaide 36ers became the first NBL team to win an NBA preseason game, beating the Phoenix Suns 134-124 (33-28, 38-31, 25-31, 38-34).

Adelaide is the first non-NBA team to win a preseason game on U.S. soil since Fenerbahce Istanbul beat Brooklyn Nets in October 2015 (101-96).

The 36ers went 10-18 in the Australian basketball league last season, while the Suns registered an NBA regular-season record of 64 wins and 18 losses (first place in Western Conference).

NBL squad stepped into this game as 28-point underdogs against the Suns.

Australian NBA talent Josh Giddey, who made his leap to the strongest basketball league from the 36ers, congratulated his former team on Twitter.

Adelaide shot 24/43 (55.8%) from the three-point zone.

Craig Randall II and Robert Franks combined for 67 points and 15 triples for the winners.

Phoenix's starting five players: Cameron Johnson, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton, Devin Booker, and Mikal Bridges, played 22 minutes apiece.

Suns' Australian big man Jock Landale scored 12 points (4/5 2PT, 0/4 3PT, 4/4 FT) and grabbed 6 rebounds in 22 playing minutes.

Suns: Cameron Payne 23 (8/19 FG), Mikal Bridges (8/12 FG) 22, Deandre Ayton 22 (11/14 FG), Devin Booker 13, Jock Landale 12, Torrey Craig 10.

36ers: Craig Randall II 35 (9/17 3PT), Robert Franks 32 (6/10 3PT), Antonius Cleveland 22 (3/4 3PT), Daniel Johnson 15, Kai Sotto 11.
