After the official statement, Oriola was the special guest on the La Sotana podcast. He talked about his departure and how the club told him.
Oriola regretted how everything went.
"It's a club decision. You have to accept it when you're not part of a club's plans. But I'm disappointed because I still think I could have contributed more. I was the captain, and they haven't made a single statement," he began.
"I met with Mario Bruno and Juan Carlos Navarro to analyze my performance through the year. In the last five minutes, they told me I would not continue the following year. We could have avoided the meeting," he continued.
Oriola showed his disappointment with Sarunas Jasikevicius too.
"Coach Jasikevicius didn't say anything to me, and he only called me two months after I was kicked out asking if I was angry. I wasn't anymore, when a stage ends, it ends", he concluded.
The Tarrega-born big man joined FC Barcelona in 2017 and was named team captain in 2020. Over the last five years, he logged 142 EuroLeague appearances, tallying 5.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game.
Basquet Girona showed interest in signing Oriola during the summer, but there is no news regarding his future yet.
