The move was made with the hope of the guard making it to the start of the EuroLeague. However, PAO head coach Dejan Radonjic cleared the situation up ahead of the matchup against Real Madrid on Thursday, providing grim news for the club's fans.
"If you compare their situation with ours, it is clear that we need more time together to reach the desired level," the coach told. "Unfortunately, Walters is out and will not play against Real, while both [Mateusz] Ponitka and [Marius] Grigonis have just five training sessions with the team."
Looking at the upcoming season, Marius Grigonis stressed the length of the tournament.
"It will be a long season, many things will happen, the important thing is to stay united as a team both during good times and bad times," the Lithuanian guard told. "We want to have a winning mentality and fight in every game."
The match between Panathinaikos and Real is scheduled to start at 20:00 CET in OAKA tomorrow evening.
