Many analyzed his strategies and in-game actions to figure out how to beat him. Now, Scariolo tells the story himself.
The Italian coach has released a book about his coaching career, called 'My love for basketball' (orig. Mi amor por el baloncesto). The prologue of the book was written by the legendary Pau Gasol.
"He is admirable but at the same time, he knows how to be at the side of individuals, take an interest in their emotions, and motivate them," Gasol writes.
In his book, Scariolo expresses his ideas for success and failure, talks about ambition and sacrifice, and highlights the most important moments for him both in Europe and in the NBA.
"I like all aspects of basketball, and the deeper I got into it over the years, the more I studied it, the more I loved it," Scariolo explains.
"The most distressing thing about this profession has always been loneliness for me," he tells. "At the moment when you make a decision, you are alone. Your assistants, the players, the managers, or the fans, even friends are diluted."
