EuroLeague came back for the 2022-23 season with 18 teams battling for superiority in the premier basketball tournament in Europe.

The first day of the competition featured five matches with some of the better-known names among the clubs.

LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne were leading in the first half against EA7 Emporio Armani Milan. Nando de Colo led the French club in scoring but it wasn't good enough as the matchup favorites played a more dominant second half to take their first win.

Panathinaikos Athens started their international season against Real Madrid, who took first place in our power rankings earlier in the week. The Greeks battled the entire match and only Dzanan Musa and Sergio Llull's late-game heroics put the Spanish team on top.

The match between Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv and Zalgiris Kaunas featured an intense battle of runs as the leading team changed numerous times throughout the game. Down by 1, Keenan Evans had the ball in his hands against former Zalgiris center Josh Nebo but hesitated and the team did not manage to take a shot, missing out on an opportunity to snatch an away win.

Later in the evening, a clash between two Spanish teams - Valencia Basket and Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz - was not as close as basketball fans could have expected. Once Baskonia took the lead in the second quarter, the team controlled the game and did not let their opponents think about capturing a win at home.

A matchup between two playoff contenders closed out the evening as FC Bayern Munich met Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul at home. Fenerbahce allowed their opponents to score just 62 points en route to a comfortable victory.

All EuroLeague matches are broadcasted on EuroLeague TV.
