With under a week left until the start of the 2022-23 NBA season, the New Orleans Pelicans biggest star Zion Williamson was removed from a preseason game due to injury.

The forward injured his ankle in the second quarter against the Miami Heat while driving to the basket against Dewayne Dedmon. Zion shot both free throws and continued to play for a few more minutes before being removed from the game for precautionary reasons.

The injury is said to be day-by-day and is not considered to be serious.

"I want to use the right term, but in the moment, it didn’t feel too good," Williamson said after the game. "It was one of those things that happened and I popped back up like, ‘Yeah, I’m straight.’ Played a few minutes after that, felt fine, then they sent me to the back just to double-check."

Williamson finished the game with 11 points in 11 minutes of play, adding four assists and two rebounds. Heat won the matchup 120-103.
