Real won the Spanish SuperCup final 89-83 after overtime less than three weeks ago.
Tomas Satoransky put on an early show to start El Clasico. He recorded 7 of his team's first 10 points by going straight at Sergio Rodriguez every time. The Czech guard also dished out 3 assists en route in the first 10 minutes. Real stayed in the game but had a 9-point deficit (15-24) after 10 playing minutes.
The Royal club could not get closer in the second tally. They went into the break 10 points down (30-40) thanks to a deep three-pointer by Mario Hezonja.
Chus Mateo's men could not find momentum on the offensive end, as Barca were leading 69-52 at the start of the fourth quarter.
But that was not the end. Gabriel Deck scored 11 points in the fourth to initiate a clutch 11-1 run for Real to reduce the gap between the teams to just 2 points (73-75) with 16 seconds to play. On top of that, Nicolas Laprovittola made a crucial turnover and gave the last attack to Real Madrid.
However, Sergio Llull missed the last three-pointer that could gift Real a fantastic win.
