Golden State Warriors Los Angeles LakersWed02:00 Golden State Warriors Denver Nuggets10-2202:00Andrew Wiggins, fresh off his first All-Star appearance, signed a four-year, $109 million extension with the team.
News of the extension was first reported by Spotrac's Keith Smith, with the financial details coming from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Kendra Andrews.
Wojnarowski also reported that the deal includes a player option.
The deal comes after a career year for Wiggins, in which he averaged 17.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game, shot 39.3% from downtown, was named an All-Star starter, and won a championship for the first time in his career. He especially stood out in the playoffs, when his defense against Luka Doncic in the Western Conference Finals, and against Jayson Tatum in the NBA Finals, was a game changer for the Dubs.
While Wiggins hasn't become the superstar envisioned when he was picked first overall in 2014, he has made an excellent career for himself. He's now locked into a role with Golden State through the 2026-27 campaign and will slot into his role as a scorer again this season.
Wiggins has etched consistent production in his two seasons with the Warriors, claiming a starting role as the team's third scoring option behind Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Still only 27 years old, Wiggins should slot in as a regular in the starting five again this season in a similar role to what he saw last year.
