Talking about the comeback, Olympiacos head coach Georgios Bartzokas wanted to emphasize the club.
"I feel very good that certain values are recognized by the management in Olympiacos," he told. "It's something fantastic. You also saw what happened with Georgios Printezis."
"The profession of a coach is completely different from that of a player," Bartzokas continued. "Vassilis has found the ideal scenario for him to start his career in a club that gave him many opportunities to do something good and without much pressure."
"In the Greek championship, whether you finish 3rd or 5th is not so important. You have to follow the philosophy that the team has set. He has all the guarantees in this team to build on his experiences [as a player]," he added.
Bartzokas has been coaching for two decades, while this is the first year for Spanoulis. Asked to give some advice to the up-and-coming specialist, the Olympiacos coach provided an atypical answer.
"I have not advised anyone, and I will not do so now. All I have to say [is what] I say it jokingly with my colleagues. You can't wish it on someone, but it's for a coach to be fired," Bartzokas told. "The best thing that can happen to someone is to get fired. I'm not talking about Vassilis. You then put things in order."
"In essence, this will happen at some point, as it happens to everyone because even the most successful coaches have years when they fail," he continued. "I'm not saying this about Vassilis, but if I were to give a piece of advice, I would say, 'look, at some point, you have to be fired to make things better in your career'. He helped me when I was fired from Olympiacos back then."
