Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, Kevin Porter Jr.'s multi-year extension is only guaranteed for $15.86 million, all in Year 1. The contract includes June trigger dates after the first season, but the Rockets can essentially release Porter at any point without further pay up to the $82.5M.
The 22-year-old Porter Jr. averaged 15.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.2 assists over 62 games last season, his second with Houston.
He went 30th overall in the 2019 NBA draft. Milwaukee Bucks selected Porter Jr. but later traded him to the Cleveland Cavaliers via the Detroit Pistons.
