In May,the Board of FIBA Europe decided to apply to the European national team and club competitions the rulingthatFIBA's Executive Committee reached earlier that month on Russia and Belarus, but the decision did not include the Women's EuroBasket Qualifiers at that time.
Today's decision, which was taken after carefully considering the recent developments of the conflict in Ukraine, the decisions of the FIBA Executive Committee, and the guidelines of the International Olympic Committee, means that Russia and Belarus are withdrawn from the upcoming Women's EuroBasket Qualifiers windows in November 2022 and February 2023.
The results of the two teams in their respective groups will be declared null and void as per the applicable regulations.
The hosts of the next edition of women's flagship event in Europe - Israel and Slovenia - are qualified for the Final Round directly, with 14 tickets reserved for the 10 group winners and the four best second-placed teams.
