The Hornets have released the following statement:
"We are aware of the incident involving James Bouknight and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will have no further comment at this time."
Per Nick Carboni, Bouknight did practice today. Hornets' head coach Steve Clifford echoed the team's statement that they're still gathering more information.
This isn't Bouknight's first arrest. He was charged in 2019 with evading responsibility, interfering with a police officer, and other charges after a car crash, via Associated Press.
The 22-year-old Bouknight averaged 4.6 points and 1.7 rebounds in 9.8 minutes through 31 games with the Charlotte Hornets last season, his first in the NBA.
Bouknight made headlines in late February when hewas ejected from his courtside seat during a Big East Conference game between Xavier and No. 24 UConn at Storrs, Conn.
Bouknight, who played two seasons at UConn before he was the 11th overall selection in last year's NBA Draft, reportedly was standing on the court and talking on his cell phone before he was thrown out in the second half by official Mike Roberts.
