Luca Vildoza talks offers from other EuroLeague clubs, possible return to Baskonia / News - Basketnews.com
Luca Vildoza doesn't rule out his return to Baskonia, revealing that CSKA Moscow and Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv were also interested in him this offseason.
Luca Vildoza gave an interview to El Correo, where he confirmed that he would make his Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade debut against Real Madrid on Friday.
The 27-year-old also talked about his signing with Crvena Zvezda, offers from other EuroLeague teams, and even a possible return to Baskonia.
"I am happy to belong to this team," Vildoza told El Correo. "I practiced one day, and I felt quite good and involved. I won't be able to play against Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz tonight, but I will make my debut on Friday against Real."
Vildoza was asked about Baskonia's claim that his transfer to Crvena Zvezda was unlawful, but the Argentinian didn't want to elaborate.
"Everyone can think the way they want. I'm going to keep my version to myself. There is a disagreement (with Baskonia) that if I wanted to explain, I couldn't because I don't know how to explain it well. That's what my lawyer is for," said the Argentinian guard.
However, Crvena Zvezda's newcomer doesn't hide his warm feelings for Baskonia and doesn't rule out a return to the Spanish club.
"Some may feel betrayed, but I feel love for Vitoria and Baskonia," Vildoza admitted. "It basically gave me the chance to play in the EuroLeague and to grow as a person. I played in the best league in the world. In the end, my family is here, my girlfriend is from here, I feel very identified with the city, the way of playing, the famous character, we won the ACB League."
"Maybe in the future [my return] could happen again, depending on how the fans feel," added Vildoza.
The Argentinian also revealed that at least two other clubs were interested in him, but finally, he decided to sign with Crvena Zvezda.
"[A deal with] CSKA couldn't be made because it was a temporary contract. Maccabi was also around, but I decided on Crvena," said Vildoza. "The city is incredible, and the team is similar to what we were playing with Baskonia. Maybe not with so many names, but in the end, I wanted to play, and it doesn't matter if it was here or in Quilmes [Vildoza's hometown]."
Finally, Vildoza was asked about his experience in the NBA. Although it didn't pan out as expected, the Argentinian guard doesn't regret his decision.
"I was in the NBA. Not everyone can say the same," Vildoza stated. "Maybe this year was not the best of being there."
"Still, I enjoyed being there, sharing [the floor] with the best player in the world [Giannis Antetokounmpo and other] stars that I would not be able to do here. At least I proved to myself that I took the step," Vildoza concluded.
