In a surprising move, Dwayne Bacon signed a contract with Panathinaikos Athens yesterday. Following the signing, the player gave his first thoughts about the move.

"I feel great to be a member of Panathinaikos. It is a club that has the spirit of a winner. A team where many great players from the NBA and beyond have competed," Bacon told. "I'm excited because I think I can help them significantly to get victories. I will do everything I can, I will give 100% of my potential to achieve something good."

"Only victories," he said about his goals in Greece. "It is too early to talk about goals. Last year with Monaco in the EuroLeague, we didn't start as well as we would have liked, but in the end, we made it to the playoffs and just missed out on qualifying for the Final Four. So it is never too late to recover and achieve something good. We have many matches ahead of us. We will look at each one individually with the only goal of winning."

Bacon will join his former teammate in AS Monaco, Paris Lee. Mike James, with whom he also played there, has also worn the green jersey.

Asked to talk about what he can give to the club, the player was straightforward.

"I would not like to promise anything. I will work hard in the two years of my contract with the team, always giving 100%. I have a lot of confidence in my abilities and I think I can play better than what you saw last year," the forward said. "I can give the team the push they need to turn the switch."

Bacon will have a chance to debut for his new club against Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague on Thursday.
