Daulton Hommes led alla scorers and showcased his best game in the 2022-23 campaign, going for 24 points on 4/5 2PT and 5/8 3PT shots.
Matt Costello followed with 13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, in addition to making two important free throws with less than half a minute left in the game clock. Rokas Giedraitis and Arturs Kurucs racked up 11 apiece, while Darius Thompson did a bit of everything. The former Lokomotiv Kuban point guard had 10 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists.
Gabriel Deck and Dzanan Musa led the pack for the visiting team, as both went for 17 points. The Argentine forward went for 7/14 from the field, whilst adding 8 rebounds; the Bosnian forward dished out 5 assists and made all of his (3) free-throw attempts.
Guerschon Yabusele made some important baskets down the stretch and went for 16 points overall (6/11 FG, 3/3 FT), along with his 7 rebounds. Chus Mateo's squad shot the ball poorly (7/23) from deep and saw Walter Tavares finish the game with 13 points and 6 rebounds.
The two rivals headed into the contest's final stretch with a 75-75 balance. Guerschon Yabusele hit a big three-pointer to give Real Madrid the lead with less than four minutes left. Dalton Hommes scored in front of Tavares to put Baskonia up again (80-79), before the center from Cape Verde was fouled out with a loose-ball foul.
Sergio Rodriguez and Darius Thompson exchanged daggers, but it was a reckless pass from 'Chacho' to Yabusele that allowed the hosts to secure a two-possession lead thanks to a couple of Matt Costello free throws (86-82).
Real Madrid had one last chance with Sergio Llull, but his long-distance shot went off the mark.
