Dubai was foreseen as a potential future Final Four host, but as BasketNews sources indicate, there is a high possibility that the most populous city in the United Arab Emirates will greet the four best EuroLeague teams in the 2022-23 season.
Kaunas was a front-runner to host the event for a while.
Zalgiris fans led the EuroLeague in attendance from 2017 to 2020. Also, Kaunas has the most modern arena in the competition. The second biggest city in Lithuania successfully hosted the final stage of the 2011 EuroBasket.
The Lithuanian government recently refused to provide an additional €1M for the rights to host the Final Four. However, Kaunas still remains in the race.
According to Antonis Kalkavouras of Gazzetta, Dubai wanted to host the future Final Four events for three consecutive years.
Dubai has an NBA-level arena that accommodates 17,000 fans.
The facilities, hotels, and services leave no questions about Dubai's ability to organize the major EuroLeague event.
