The Blancos will miss Fabien Causeur, who will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time because of plantar fasciitis and discomfort in the tendon of the knee of his other leg.
"We decided to shut down Causeur because he had been dragging discomfort in a tendon in one knee and plantar fasciitis in the other leg," Mateo revealed before the upcoming game against Virtus Bologna. "We decided to stop him in anticipation that he could get injured."
"We will see how he evolves from those two injuries that were preventing him from performing at the level he wanted to," Mateo added.
Causeur played in Sunday's game against Cazoo Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz. In 4 minutes of playing time, he went scoreless.
The 34-year-old French guard averages 4.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 2.3 PIR in EuroLeague. Meanwhile, in the Spanish ACB, he averages 3.6 points, 0.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.2 EFF.
Mateo also confirmed that Adam Hanga would make his season debut after suffering an injury in the femoral biceps of his left leg.
"Hanga will play because he has evolved very well and will be in the game," said the coach.
Meanwhile, Williams-Goss remains sidelined but nears a return.
"Williams-Goss is slowly getting into the team after a long time out of action, and he will probably not play tomorrow," Mateo concluded.
