Doncic finished the game with 44 points, marking the sixth game in a row he scored 30 or more points to start the season, becoming the first player ever to do it since His Airness did it in 1986-87.
So far this year, Luka has been averaging 36.7 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 8.7 assists in 36.7 minutes of play. However, the Slovenian star benefits from being the main man of the offense unlike any other player in the league.
Per Cleaning the Glass, Doncic's usage rate of 44.9% is the highest in the league by a significant margin. Trae Young is second with 40.3%.
"Some nights, I'm going to get doubled every time," Doncic said after the game. "There's different teams, different coaches. I don't feel like I have to score 30 every night. We have capable players. I don't think it's going to be every night."
After the six-game streak, Michael scored 28 against the then-Washington Bullets. The Mavericks meet the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night where Luka will hope to break Jordan's record.
