"I'm told there is swelling in that knee and I'm told his status is in doubt as the Nets, after tonight, go on a 3-game road trip Friday, Saturday, and Monday," Charania told on The Rally. "The Nets and Simmons both want to have a level of caution as they go into this knee issue right on the heels of him having back surgery in the offseason."
After missing the entire 2021-22 season, it hasn't been the sweetest of comebacks for Simmons. The Australian is averaging 6.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.2 steals per game for the Nets with a season-high of just 9 points.
Simmons is a former 3-time All-Star and 2-time member of the NBA All-Defensive First Team. He was named Rookie of the Year and led the league in steals in 2020.
Following a bad start to the season, the Nets fired their head coach Steve Nash yesterday. Currently suspended Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka is expected to be the next specialist to take over Nash's job.
