The Italian tactician addressed his team's woes, as demonstrated by the 24 (6+18) points they scored in the second half.
Messina congratulated Virtus on the win and stressed that "theysurvived a very tough start, and then, they came up with their physicality defensively."
The four-time EuroLeague-winning tactician said his team is mentally weak.
"When things are going bad, we just collapse," he stressed.
"We look very sad, very depressed. We refuse to make decisions and shots. We play with a sense of tragedy."
Messina added he takes the responsibility to try to help players regain some of the confidence and cohesion that they miss right now.
"It's not useful to point fingers to any players. When a team's playing bad, it's the coach's responsibility. So, it's my responsibility to work in the best possible way so that we can overcome this period," he pointed out.
"Making 60 points at home is not a small problem," he admitted.
"There's a problem in creation, and if we pass up good shots, it's hard to play. Today Virtus had [Kyle] Weems and [Marco] Belinelli out for 40 minutes. But the problem is to expect the team to play as it did in the first 10 minutes.
From my point of view, the fans have reason to be sorry, angry, upset, and maybe think that the season is already over. We know some of the reasons we're struggling in EuroLeague games.
But at the same time, we have to do much better. It's impossible that we don't take shots, force situations, and dig ourselves in a hole. I feel an obligation to sort some things out," the experienced play-caller concluded.
