"Congratulations to Latvia. They were the better team on the field. Our players fought hard, there was a great desire to press but we have to face the truth - you cannot win with such percentages no matter how many mistakes the opponent makes," the coach told in the post-game press conference.
However, the Greek specialist then came back to reiterate the thoughts he expressed after the EuroLeague match.
"Today, we practiced with one team, tomorrow, we will practice with another. Does this seem normal to you? Obviously, someone will win and someone will lose. Latvia was better today but they had paid for it and did not go to the EuroBasket," Itoudis told. "Voices exist but are not heard. We should get together now and do things in the training session that take 2-3 months to prepare. But even with these conditions, we will try to do our best."
After the loss to Latvia, Greece is currently third in Group I of the Second Round of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Next, they will play against Belgium on Monday.
