Valencia Basket defeated AS Monaco in Round 7 of the EuroLeague yesterday, capturing their fourth victory of the season. It seems nothing out of the ordinary. Until you look at the numbers.

Player of the Game Chris Jones EFF 33 Chris Jones Points 27 Accuracy 10-15 Rebounds 4 Assists 3

The Spanish team committed 22 turnovers in the game. According to Darius Garuolis, it was only the 53rd time in the entire history of the tournament that a club won the match with at least as many turnovers as Valencia. Knowing there have been 5273 games in the modern EuroLeague, it's only just 1% of all matches.

Meanwhile, Sasa Obradovic's team made only 9 turnovers. Going further down the statistical aisle, there have been only 5 occasions when the winning team committed at least 22 turnovers with the losing side having at least 12 fewer mistakes. By comparison, it's only 0.1% of all games.

Interestingly, the previous four such wins were achieved away from the home court, making Valencia's home victory the only such achievement in EuroLeague's history.

Chris Jones led the Spanish squad with 27 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists for 33 PIR, capturing the MVP of the Round trophy together with Johnathan Motley from Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul.
