Panathinaikos Athens owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos was one of the harshest critics of the former EuroLeague management with Jordi Bertomeu at the helm.

When former EuroLeague CEO and president stepped from his position, Giannakopoulos stated that Dejan Bodiroga's arrival would produce a better product than what EuroLeague has had in the last 20 years.

Despite all the taunts from Giannakopoulos' side over the years, Bertomeu says he is on good terms with PAO's top executive. Bertomeu explains that "Giannakopoulos' rhetoric is part of the show, as he needs to show the fans that he cares."

"He is a president who is very talkative. In addition, he speaks with special tones and terms. You will have noticed that I have never responded to him publicly over the years," Bertomeu told Rafa Muntion and Sergio Vegas.

"Also, I must mention that I personally have a good relationship with him. My private conversations with him were always very pleasant both ways. In 22 years, I have not experienced a conflict situation," the former EuroLeague leader added.
