Derrick Williams poured in 28 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and collected 30 PIR in the first PAO-Virtus game after 20 years.

Virtus Segafredo Bologna came into this game on the back of a 30-point victory over Valencia Basket, however, Panathinaikos Athens were not ready to give away a win at OAKA, defeating the Italians in overtime drama, 88-85 (12-21, 26-20, 29-21, 9-14, 12-9).

Derrick Williams poured in 28 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, and collected 30 PIR in the first PAO-Virtus game after 20 years.

After scoring 55 points in the second and third quarters, PAO started to slow down and gave Virtus a chance of getting back into the game. Virtus organized a crucial 8-0 run and got in front 76-74 with 1:20 to play in the fourth.

Both teams were trading with unsuccessful attacks, while Paris Lee tied the match at 76 with 11.6 seconds to go.

Milos Teodosic had a chance to win the game but his triple was off the mark. PAO got the rebound and Paris Lee tried a full-court shot which went close but both clubs went into overtime.

Daniel Hackett made a very important shot from deep (83-80) with one minute to go in additional time. Nevertheless, Dwayne Bacon scored his first bucket in 2nd half and OT and tied the game at 83. Iffe Lundberg got his team in front once again (85-83) but terrific Derick Williams responded with a three on the other end (86-85).

Virtus had 16 seconds for an answer. Lundberg penetrated the rim but pushed Derrick Williams in the air while attempting the layup and got an offensive foul. Dwayne Bacon made two shots from the charity stripe (88-85), while Milos Teodosic missed at the buzzer.

Panathinaikos: Derrick Williams 26 (8 REB), Nate Wolters 18, Paris Lee 15, Dwayne Bacon 14, Arturas Gudaitis 10.

Virtus: Mam Jaiteh 20 (10 REB), Semi Ojeleye 19 (5 REB), Iffe Lundberg 14 (8 AST), Milos Teodosic 12 (5 REB), Daniel Hackett 11.
