Billy Donovan had agreed with the Chicago Bulls on a contract extension before the current NBA season licked off.

Donovan, who last season guided the Bulls to the playoffs for the first time in four years, had two years remaining on his original four-year contract and is now under contract for several more years. The Bulls have an 86-88 overall record under Donovan.
Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas hired Donovan in 2020, after Donovan parted ways with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In his first season with the Bulls in 2020-21, Donovan led Chicago to 31 wins. The team improved to 46-36 in his second season, a 15-win jump. Chicago made the playoffs in 2021-22, snapping a four-year postseason drought.
Last season ultimately ended with the Bulls capturing the sixth seed before falling in a first-round series loss to Milwaukee in five games.
Donovan, 57, had a 243-157 record in his five seasons as Thunder head coach (2015-20), reaching the Western Conference finals in his first year in Oklahoma City. He's a two-time NCAA champion with the University of Florida.
