A day before Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade's matchup against Virtus Segafredo Bologna, the EuroLeague released a statement, issuing a temporary ban for the club.

According to the official statement, the team failed to provide the required information and existing payables. The club is now prohibited to register both new players and new coaches.

The announcement reads:

Following the referral by the Management Control Commission of an adjudicatory proceeding against Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade on the basis of existing overdue payables and omitting to provide due information, the Finance Panel has imposed a provisional measure prohibiting the registration of new players and coaches on the Club.

On ELPA's proposal, EuroLeague Framework Agreement (EFA), which is an agreement between players, clubs and the league, the system now requires clubs to declare quarterly payment confirmations to EuroLeague.

Clubs that fail to do so or provide inadequate information can be subject to monitoring process. If during the monitoring process problems are found, the outcome becomes the ban (like for Red Star). This means that because of EFA, clubs now have to report to EuroLeague their payment situation every 3 months.

Since replacing Vladimir Jovanovic with Dusko Ivanovic, Crvena Zvezda have noticeably improved. Ivanovic is currently undefeated both in the EuroLeague and in the ABA League.
