NBA fines Dillon Brooks $25,000 for skipping media availability
Memphis Grizzlies forward/guard DillonBrooks has been fined $25,000 for "violating league rules governingmedia interview access," it was announced today by NBA executivevice president and head of basketball operations Joe Dumars.
The fine results from Brooks’ failureto participate in team postgame media availability during the firstround of the 2023 NBA Playoffs. Brooks refused to speak to themedia after multiple first-round games against the Los AngelesLakers.
The Lakers eliminated the Grizzlies insix games in the first round, and Brooks struggled during theseries after calling out LeBron James.
During the first-round series, Brooksaveraged 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists, while shootinga dreadful 31.2% from the field and 23.8% from three-point range –both of which were his career-lows in the postseason.
Brooks is an unrestricted free agentthis offseason, and there has been some discussion about whetherthe Grizzlies will try to retain him given his on-court strugglesand antics.
