Trae Young refused to participate in a shootaround without receiving full treatment on his shoulder first, and then chose to miss the game against the Nuggets instead of starting the game off the bench when asked.

When teams start the season not as successful as they probably hoped, tensions sometimes start to flare between the most important parts of the squad. With Atlanta Hawks having a 13-and-10 record, it seems to have happened between star guard Trae Young and head coach Nate McMillan.

According to Shams Charania from The Athletic, the two got into a conflict during a shootaround on Friday which led to Young missing a game against the Denver Nuggets Friday night.

While Young was receiving treatment on his right shoulder during the shootaround, coach McMillan approached the star guard asking him to participate and receive the treatment later during the walk-through.

Young disagreed and was presented with two options - either play off the bench against the Nuggets or don't play at all. The guard chose the latter. The team ruled Young out due to right shoulder soreness.

However, the player has since returned to practices and is expected to suit up against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight.

There were no disciplinary actions enforced against the player, Charania reports.
